Volp.
Voice over IP is a protocol designed to bridge the gap between old analogue telephone exchanges and the digital InternetThis typically enables users to use their existing Internet data connections to place calls to other analogue or digital subscribers without the need of traditional landlines or PBXs.
Services such as Skype enable Internet users to access other analogue, cellular and digital telephone network exchanges by using a headset and a computer. Many cellular companies overseas allow Internet Volp users to call their cellular network subscribers for free, but this has not been achieved in south Africa, instead interconnection rates are regulated across the board.
Our goal is to deploy a Volp service in South Africa that can operate over the country's existing ADSL,iBurst infrastructure offering calling rates significantly lower than any existing VoIP/telco provider, without the need of a computer to use the service.
